With just a little prep now, you can eat, drink, and be merry later! Which of these treats will make your holiday dessert lineup this year?

The holidays are full of joy and full of busy, stressful times. Between shopping, decorating, wrapping gifts, and hosting loved ones, the last thing you need is to be stuck in the kitchen at the last minute baking. That’s where make-ahead holiday treats come to the rescue!
Whether you’re planning a cookie exchange, gifting homemade goodies, or just want to have something sweet on hand for surprise guests, these desserts can be prepped days—or even weeks—in advance. Freeze them, chill them, stash them away… then simply plate and serve!
Here are some crowd-pleasing make-ahead holiday sweets that will save your sanity without sacrificing the festive flair.

Classic Freezer-Friendly Cookie Dough Balls
Make your favorite cookie dough (chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, sugar cookies, etc.), scoop into balls, freeze on a tray, then store in a bag. Bake directly from frozen whenever you need fresh cookies in minutes!

Candy Bark
Layers of white and dark chocolate topped with crushed candy canes is just one idea for candy bark. It keeps beautifully in a tin for weeks and looks gorgeous in gift bags.

Make-Ahead Fudge (Any Flavor!)
Peanut butter, chocolate walnut, maple pecan, and of course, chocolate. No matter your flavor, fudge is one of the easiest sweets to make in advance. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for even longer. Cutting them up into small squares and freezing them on a large cookie sheet will freeze nicely.

Coconut Snowball Truffles
Sweetened condensed milk + coconut = holiday magic. Roll into balls, coat in more coconut, and chill. This snowball recipe tastes like little bites of winter wonderland!

Chocolate-Covered Pretzel Rods
Dip pretzel rods in melted chocolate and add sprinkles or crushed nuts. These chocolate-covered pretzel rods stay crisp and delicious for weeks and package beautifully for gifts. Using cellophane bags is perfect for these pretzel rods.

No-Bake Oreo Truffles
Crushed Oreos + cream cheese + chocolate coating = perfection. These no-bake Oreo truffles freeze wonderfully and thaw quickly for parties or snacking emergencies.

Cherry Almond Biscotti
Perfect with coffee or cocoa, biscotti is meant to be dry, which means these cherry almond biscottis store for weeks! Wrap in cellophane and a cute gift tag for an elegant edible gift.

Mini Pies (Freeze Before or After Baking)
Make hand pies or tartlets filled with apple, pecan, or cranberry-orange. Freeze raw and bake fresh, or bake ahead and warm when needed.

Rum Balls or Bourbon Snowballs
A holiday classic for adults! I have to admit that I’ve had a few of these yummy treats. My mom used to make Bourbon Balls back in the day. These boozy bites actually taste better as they sit and soak up all that lovely bourbon, making them the ultimate make-ahead indulgence.
Pro Tips for Make-Ahead Holiday Treat Success
- Label & date everything – Using freezer containers and peel-off labels makes life easier.
- Store sweets separately — Mint treats can flavor everything in the storage tins!
- Use parchment or wax paper layers – The best liners to keep baked goods from burning.
- Decorate right before serving – Toppings can bleed or melt over time. Block out time for decorating close to serving day.

This is a FANTASTIC collection! I love the holidays, but they can get so stressful. This is a great way to relieve some of that.
These all look fantastic! The candy bark jumps out at me as it looks super effective and simple to do. I bet it’d look fab wrapped up in little ribboned cellophane gift bags. Thanks for the inspiration! Definitely doing this one with the kids.
