Just Me & My Moments!

Here you will find a collection of ideas, tips, and just thoughts. I love to share everything happening in my abundant life and what inspires me.

Welcome to Just Me & My Moments! It’s a little space where I share the bits and pieces that make up my everyday life. From small joys to honest reflections, it’s all about capturing the moments that shape who I am. Nothing fancy, just real life, simple and meaningful, and one moment at a time as a widow.

I’m so happy you are here!

husband passing

It’s hard to believe that a full year has passed since Mr. G went to heaven. In some ways, it feels like yesterday. In others, it feels like I have lived a lifetime in these twelve months.

This year has changed me in ways I never expected. Grief has a way of reshaping everything. Your routines, your plans, even the quiet moments in between. The house feels different. The evenings feel longer. Decisions that were once shared are now mine alone. I have learned how strong I can be, even on days when I don’t feel strong at all.

There have been tears, of course. So many tears. But there have also been small victories, smiles, and moments when I realized I handled something on my own. Like fixing something on my own that he would normally do, and I would look for him to show him my victory. Only to realize, he’s not here. I have learned that love doesn’t end with loss. It changes form. It becomes memory, gratitude, and a quiet presence that walks beside me every day.

This past year has taught me to slow down, to appreciate the simple things, and to hold tight to the people who show up. It has deepened my faith, softened my heart, and reminded me that even in the hardest seasons, there is still beauty to be found.

One year later, I am not the same woman I was. I am a widow. I am healing. I am growing. And I carry Mr. G’s love with me in everything I do.

NO BAKE CHOCOLATE BEANUT BUTTER BARS: In a bowl, mix 1 cup ground almonds, 1/3 cup peanut butter, and 1/4 cup maple syrup until well combined. Press the mixture firmly into a lined loaf tin or mold, flattening evenly with the back of a spoon. Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth, then stir in 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Pour the chocolate mixture over the base and spread evenly. Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 30 minutes, then slice and enjoy. This is also a wonderful low-carb treat if you leave out the maple syrup.

🐕‍🦺DIXIE UPDATE: Well, Miss Dixie has to lose some weight. Actually, a couple of pounds. Doesn’t sound like much, but two pounds on a little dog is a lot.

When I took her to the vet when she was sick, I asked her about her weight. Fourteen to fifteen pounds is a good weight for her size. She’s at 16 pounds. 😮 The vet explained that a little dog is healthier at a lower weight. So, it’s time for action.

We have been walking up to a mile a day, weather permitting. So that’s enough exercise for her. Next was to cut her food down. She eats Science Diet, and the bag says she can have a cup a day. The vet explained that the scale is average, and she needed less food. I’ve been slowly cutting down her kibble to 3/4 of a cup. She also has a couple of tablespoons of wet food and a few green beans.

I think her biggest offense was her training treats. While she was in training for a few weeks, she was consuming a LOT of those tiny treats. She is down to maybe two or three while we walk to help with her ongoing training.

She has been eating Science Diet’s Perfect Weight food, and I can tell cutting her back to 3/4’s of a cup of food has helped her weight. Her harness now goes on much more easily.

🛋️FUN AND INTERESTING FACT: What is March’s birthstone and flower? Can you name three holidays in March? Aquamarine is March’s birthstone, and the daffodil, meaning joy, is this month’s flower. Go HERE to see all the holidays in March, plus other fun things to do.

IN CLOSING: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast – Ephesians 2:8-9

I love this cute spring idea.

What a cute idea for a spring garland, that’s not overwhelming.

What I’m watching, reading & listening to

📺 Bridgerton S4 part 2 (Netflix): Four more episodes were released, and they didn’t disappoint. I love this series!! What did you think? There were some steamy scenes!! Seasons 5 and 6 are in the works!

📺 The new season of Virgin River is coming out now. Can’t wait. Here is the sneak peek trailer. The new season of Outer Banks is coming out this year. A date hasn’t been set yet. I just watched this series last year and loved it!!

📺 Have you watched Madison yet? I wasn’t sure if I was ready to watch this because the main story is the death of a spouse, suddenly, after a long marriage. I’m so glad I watched it. Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are outstanding in this series. Season 2 has already been filmed!

📺 A new Pride and Prejudice series is coming to Netflix later this year, along with another currently airing on the BBC that centers on Mary Bennet, Lizzie’s often-overlooked younger sister. The Mary Bennet series may take a little while to make its way to the United States, but I’m sure it will make it here someday. There’s even a new film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility scheduled for October.

  1. Thank you so much for the chocolate peanut butter bar recipe, I will try to do it on Saturday. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is delicious…

  2. It sounds like it’s been a really transformative year for you Tammy. I appreciate you sharing your feelings over the last 12 months. I hope things go well with Dixie! I’ve heard so many people talking about Bridgerton, but it’s not something I’ve ever gotten into. I should probably change that!

  3. It has been a little over a year since we lost my Father In Law and my mother in law seems lost without him. We stay with her as much as possible as it is still hard for her especially holidays. I love your post and your writing and I am so glad you are doing OK and always look forward to your posts about plants and your recipes too 😉

  4. Sounds like it’s been a transformative year for you and you should be proud of the little victories you’ve achieved on your own. I loved the second half of the Bridgerton series as well, although it’s going to feel like ages until the next series x
