Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone is ready for the holidays! All the gifts under the tree? Is your menu or what you plan to bring decided? I do miss all of this when our family was larger. My mom would make all the appetizers for our Christmas meal since we had a large breakfast that day. I really miss watching her cook.

It will be a quiet day for me. I’ve decided to stay home and reflect on Christmas memories and just enjoy the quiet.

EASIEST AND BEST GREEN BEANS – Take 2 cans of green beans and pour one can in a large saucepan with the juice, and pour in the other can without the juice. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and a good teaspoon of onion powder. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook on a very low boil until all the liquid is gone, stirring often.

🐕‍🦺DIXIE UPDATE: She is such a routine dog. I’ve been waiting till later in the morning to take her on her daily walks to let the day warm up a bit. Around 10 am, she starts bothering me. I love the way she tries to tell me she has waited long enough and wants to go on her walk! So off we go. She has this one little tiny bark that’s so cute and her way to talk to me.

I got her one of those buttons to train her to tell me when she needs to go out. It will sit by the door where we go outside. I will keep you updated on how she does. She is very alert and will let me know pretty quickly if there is an animal or human too close to the house.

Remember, when it comes to training a dog, practice really works. Just a few minutes each day will make a big difference.

🍾FUN AND INTERESTING NEW YEAR’S FACTS: The earliest known New Year’s celebration was in Mesopotamia around 2000 BCE. The year began on different days for different cultures, including the autumn equinox for the Egyptians and Phoenicians, the vernal equinox for the ancient Persians, and the winter solstice for the early Greeks.🍾

IN CLOSING: Take a deep breath. Give yourself grace. And lean in — maybe with a friend, maybe in a quiet moment — and say softly: “Even if things don’t go like I planned, God is still good, and my hope is in Him.”

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

This will be My Life Abundant’s last post of the year, so that I can enjoy the rest of the year with friends. I can’t wait to see y’all next year, and my wish for you is to have the best year ever in 2026!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” This verse encourages us to put the past behind us and embrace a new beginning.”Isaiah 43:18-19

Something to chew on

“Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it — you feel it, you know it, you believe it.” – Kevin Alan Milne

What I’m watching, reading & listening to

📺 It’s that time of year, and I am watching all my favorite Christmas movies. It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf (the funniest movie EVER), Home Alone, The Holiday (love romance this time of the year), Christmas with the Kranks, Love Actually (finally watched it), and finally, Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Candy and Martin have some of the best quotes. Priceless). And let’s not forget all the Hallmark movies. My fav is Christmas at Graceland since I’m a huge Elvis fan.

🎵I’m listening to Sirius Radio channel Holiday Traditions, and if you love old Christmas music, go to YouTube and search for vintage Christmas music. I also love all the screensavers with Christmas music to go with it. Some good stuff out there.

  1. Merry Christmas to you, we are having a very quiet Christmas this year apart from seeing my grandkids next week. I just need to be with my very close family this year. I hope you have a good Christmas and look forward to how the dog training is going

  2. I’ve started watching Christmas films, pretty much similar to the ones you’ve been watching! I love Elf, Home Alone and The Holiday! I’ve started watching Love Actually, but I forgot it’s a long film and stopped halfway through!
