Frugal Garden Crafts

Do you know some gardeners or need a gift for a teacher? How about making some gardening crafts that are easy to make.

One of the things I love to do in my spare time is make crafts with items from the garden or for the garden. The ideas for crafts are endless. There is so much beauty, color, and texture in the garden. I really enjoy giving homemade items to friends and family. It’s not only a special touch but it’s also an economical solution for when money may be tight.

Here is one of my favorite crafts I like to make.  A Succulent Mason Jar gift.  So easy to make. If you can acquire a few baby succulents you can make so many of these for gifts or a large one for yourself. They look like Fairy Gardens. I used a small mason jar for this project and rocks from my yard.  A project which won’t break the bank.

Have some veggie cans from dinner last night? That’s all you need to start this project. Recycled Can Herb Pots are so cute and the kids would love to help you make these. I started my own rosemary plants from cuttings. Very easy plant to grow indoors and outdoors. A little burlap, string and homemade tags and you have a great teacher’s gift or a welcome gift for the new neighbor down the street.

Are you ready for one of the most easiest crafts for your garden?  How about a Tomato Cage Birdbath! I have loved this birdbath so much and so have the birds. A tomato cage and terra cotta pot bottom and a bit of paint you have a really easy project for your garden. I have this in my butterfly garden and the birds just flock to it.

Have any pint Mason jars? Plant some already established herbs or by seeds as I did for these Mason Jar Herbs. Mason jars, seeds, string, and tags. Another easy and economical project to pass along to a friend or these look so cute in your window ledge.

And one more for our feathered friends. The kids really love making these Bird Feeders and make great teachers gifts for Christmas time.  Birdseed, string, and gelatin make the perfect feeder to hang on bushes or trees in the wintertime.

If you have any garden questions or have found a great new plant to grow, let us know about it. Gardening is learning from others and sharing new ideas really helps me with future posts to pass along to you.

  1. I love the idea of mason jar herbs! I have been seriously considering doing a couple of those myself this spring.

  2. Nope, I can’t say that I have ever try to make garden crafts. I love the idea of the mason jar herbs, though! I would love to try those out!!

  3. That’s a really beautiful gift idea. I love growing herbs because it’s better to use fresh ones for cooking. I’m sure my friends would love to have some too.

  4. I do not make garden crafts but giving a personalized gift to someone I am going to their home is always something I try to do. These are great ideas
