I’m a home body and my favorite restaurant is my kitchen. I love to cook and here those words from Mr. G. It’s a keeper! Meaning, that he loved that meal.

I have a small arsenal of kitchen items that have been passed down to me and items I have purchased for myself over the years. These items just make cooking easier and actually more fun.

I’ve received several questions and emails about what kitchen items I use the most and what would I recommend. My recommendations are usually for a wedding gift or for someone wanting to stock their kitchen for the first time. I especially love the newer tools I have acquired for my kitchen.

Air Fryer

This is a recent purchase but I have been using it almost every day. I can’t figure out why I didn’t buy one a long time ago. The reason I chose the COSORI Air Fryer is from all the reviews and comparison videos I used for research and the COSORI came out on top. I love the “shake” notification feature it gives you since a lot of items you cook in an air fryer needs to be shook half way through the cooking process. There are 2 different sizes and it’s not so large or heavy if you don’t want to keep it on your counter. Mine sits in my pantry cabinet until I’m ready to use it. I also use a silicone mat in the basket to help with easy cleaning.

Meat Themometer

Most people wouldn’t think a meat thermometer is important in a kitchen. But to get the correct desired doneness on meat, its a must. The wrong temp on meat can be disastrous and no one wants to ruin expense meat today. The Digital Meat Thermometer I use is so easy to read and easy to use. I think I’ve used it more now then ever with cooking chicken breasts in the air fryer. It can also be used to check the temp of baby formula.

Instant Pot

The small appliance that really changed my cooking world a few years ago was the Instant Pot. I have the 6 quart version which also comes in 3qt and 8 qt. My favorites to make in the IP are roasts, soups, chilis and pulled pork. I loved my crock pot, but the IP changed all that. I still use the IP as a slow cooker by using the glass lid accessory and using the Slow Cook setting.

Meat/potato Smasher

If you make casseroles and soups as much as I do, then a masher is a must. I love using this when I make chili in the Instant Pot. It’s also great for mashing potatoes, pumpkins, squash, bananas, carrots, etc. It’s heat resistant and BPA-free. Another way I love to use it is to use the masher to shred cooked chicken breasts.

Lodge Skillet

My mom gave me her grand mothers 10″ Lodge skillet a few years back and its such a treasure in my kitchen. As you can see in the picture, it still looks as good as the newer smaller skillet. I’ve used it in several recipes I have. I recently purchased a 6″ Lodge skillet for smaller recipes and when I want to bake a couple of Low Carb Biscuits Mr. G and I love so much. Looking for case iron skillet accessories? I have a post with over 30 accessories to choose for your skillet collection. The silicone hot skillet handle cover is a must. This is one item in your kitchen that will last forever.

Frother

If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I love my frother. It’s perfect to add that special something to your coffee or fancy drink you make at home. I love the occasional drink from the coffee shops, but they tend to eat up all the money in my pocketbook too fast. So, I would rather save the money and make my own fancy drinks.

Egg cooker

Since my lifestyle is now lower carb living, I like the occasional boiled egg for breakfast and this Dash Rapid Egg Cooker is the best for perfect cooked eggs. It cooks up to 7 eggs at one time in about 7 minutes and once they have cooled off in ice water, the shells come off really easily. Mr. G loves this little gadget.

organizing bins

Technically this really isn’t a kitchen gadget but it sure helps out in the kitchen. My refrigerator really needed an over haul when it came to being organized. I could never find anything because it always seemed to get pushed to the back of the fridge. You know the story.

That’s when I purchased Plastic Organizer Bins to organize all the jars and other small items in the fridge. These worked out so well that I purchased another set to use in my cabinets for all our vitamins and meds. I put our names on each bin so Mr. G would know his stuff from mine by using my label maker and clear tape with black letters. Lets just say that was a game changer for the both of us since all our vitamins and meds were jumbled together in the cabinet.

oil sprayer

My Oil Sprayer stays on my stove and every time I cook, I mist the pan with olive oil. You could use this sprayer for all kinds of liquids or oils for cooking. There are 2 that come in the box and I’m on the second one since I wore out the first bottle. I love that its transparent and I can see when its time to refill again.

touchless soap dispenser

I received this Touchless Soap Dispenser as a gift and LOVE IT! It’s the little things folks. It really keeps nasty bar soap off the kitchen sink and when you have chicken juice on your hands you don’t want to be touching a soap pumper.

reusable storage bags

The best reusable item are these reusable storage bags. Perfect for the freezer, left overs, sandwiches and snacks for the kids. I wash them and turn them upside down to dry. I can’t tell you how much money I have saved over the years by using these. I will say, I don’t put meat in them because I personally don’t think I can clean them enough after I used them with all that meat juice.

Echo 8

Another item that technically isn’t a kitchen gadget. But, you know what? My Echo 8 sits in the kitchen and keeps me company with music while I cook. I can also ask it cooking questions when needed. Especially when it comes to measuring. And it always displays wonderful pictures for me to enjoy all day long. You can also have it display recipes for you and order items when you run out. Let’s just say, I love this little gadget.

  9. Tammy, I have a few but need to invest in more clear plastic bins. I had never thought of using them in the fridge! What a wonderful idea! I’m like you and wonder why it took me so long to buy an air fryer. I love mine, too, but my Instapot is my favorite.
