Money Saving Apps That Really Save You Money

Saving money in everyday life is easier than you think and using these money-saving apps will make it even easier to earn gift cards for free!

Saving money in everyday life is easier than you think and using these money-saving apps will make it even easier to earn gift cards for free!

I use 3 apps that help me with the earning process. A couple of these I have been using for a very long time and one I haven’t been using very long. But, most importantly, they work. And who doesn’t need some extra cash?

I learned a long time ago about saving money when the 2008 real estate crash happened and Mr. G and I lost all of our capital in our flipping homes business. I had to learn how to pinch and squeeze every penny we had for the next 5 years to pay off our debt.

I learned a lot in those 5 years and I hope passing along these money-saving apps I use will help you learn how to save money in your life too.

MyPoints

MyPoints

The very first program I signed up with back in 2000 was MyPoints. If I do any shopping online, I go through their website, app or use their Chrome extension.

What I like most about MyPoints is the website is really easy on the eyes and extremely functional.

Each store has different amounts of points per dollar spent. You can earn points by taking surveys, watching videos, sharing your opinion, and receiving emails. I have earned over 198,000 points to use for gift cards in the past. There are over 1900 stores to shop from and over 80 stores to redeem your points from. I mainly purchase Amazon gift cards with my points. You can also redeem for PayPal credit too.

Easy to use:

  • Search for the store you want to shop at
  • Click on the Earn Points button
  • Shop and earn

After you make a purchase, in a few days, you will receive an email stating that you have earned points for that purchase. You can also look on their website or app to see how many points you have accumulated over the months and days. If you feel that one of your purchases isn’t showing after 30 days, you can contact them and they will check that out for you.

Another way I earn with them is by printing out grocery coupons. The more coupons you print out and redeem, the more points you will receive.

If you use Chrome browser, get their extension and when you go to any online store to shop, it will show you in the extension if that store uses MyPoints or not and will list all the coupons associated with that website. You may have to click on the MyPoints extension to make the checkmark green before you make a purchase.

What’s new on the app now is that you can take pictures of your receipts and earn more points. Open the app and click on Answer at the bottom. You will then see Receipt Upload at the top, click on the “v” and then click on Submit Receipt to take a picture of your receipt.

Head on over to MyPoints and sign up!

Receipt Hog

Receipt Hog

This app is so perfect for any shopper. All you do is download the app, snap a picture of your receipt and you will earn bonuses and coins to exchange for PayPal cash or Amazon Gift Cards. Basically, any kind of receipt will earn you either coins, bonuses, or sweepstakes. Receipt Hog allows you to access a digital copy of your receipts in one secure place.

Easy to use:

  • Take pictures of your receipts from stores, restaurants, or cafes
  • Earn Receipt Hog rewards like coins, spins at the virtual slot machine, or sweepstakes prizes.
  • Cash-out your coins for PayPal or Amazon gift cards!

Go HERE to read the list of receipt types and stores accepted.

After you scan several receipts a month, you will get chances to play the slots, which can earn you extra points.

Head over to Receipt Hog to find out more and where to download your app.

Fetch

fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is my go-to app to scan grocery receipts for money and gift cards. The app partners with over 200 large brands to extend rebates to customers. There are NO store limitations, NO having to clip special offers, and NO worrying about missing out on savings.

When you scan your grocery receipt, the app calculates the points you receive based on the price of the products you bought.

What I love the best about Fetch is that it will also scan your email account for purchases you have made online. So, don’t forget to set up your email address after you download the app.

Easy to use:

  • Scan your grocery receipt from ANY store. You can use receipts from grocery stores, convenience stores, drugstores, liquor stores, and more.
  • Every time you purchase a product from one of Fetch’s participating brands, you’ll earn extra points.
  • Click on the blue button to scan your online purchases from your email account.
  • As your points accumulate, you can redeem them for gift cards to popular retailers like Amazon, CVS, Target, Build-A-Bear, or even virtual MasterCard/Visa Rewards gift cards!

You only have to scan a receipt. Fetch then looks for any participating items and gives you extra bonus points.

It takes 3,000 points to redeem your earnings of $3. This low redemption minimum makes Fetch one of the easiest apps to earn gift cards.

Currently, the only cash rewards option is a Visa cash card. There are many gift card options to choose from for local and online stores.

Click HERE to sign up for Fetch and use my code AY32R to receive points for just signing up. Most of the time it’s 2000 or 3000 points but they run specials all the time for even more signing up points.

My take on these apps

I love them! It’s just another way for me to live a more frugal life.

I’ve had people say that it’s too much work for a few gift cards. It may be a little bit of work, but when I get home from shopping, I just automatically sit with my receipts and scan them with each app. It may take 10 minutes out of my day to do this process. But in the end, it’s so worth it.

The gift cards are perfect for gifts or use the gift card to purchase a gift for someone or yourself. I have been known to do that, especially if it’s an expensive item. I’ve paid for 3 pairs of Birkenstock sandals with gift cards earned through these apps. Perfect for the holiday season too!
