I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month.

When I was decorating for fall last year, I wrote a post about how the color “orange” has great qualities people love. Even though it’s not my favorite color, when you look at this vintage fall setting in the picture above, the orange grabs you right off. As you know, I’m always looking for vintage items and @oldcottonwood IG account just makes me drool with all the really neat vintage items where this picture came from.

what I’m watching

🎥 Do you know the crime story of The Staircase? It’s a great story to follow about Michael Peterson and has been in the news for years now. He was accused of killing his wife after she was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home. I watched The Staircase mini-series on Amazon, Netflix, and other documentaries and found the whole thing to be crazy. There is also one on HBO I heard is really good too. I love to see all the different angles these shows talk about and form an opinion. I’m not sure anyone will ever know whether he’s truly guilty or not.

🎥 I watched Thirteen Lives the other day on Amazon Prime and it really kept me at the edge of my seat. It’s about the true story of a rescue mission in Thailand to rescue a group of young boys and their soccer coach who are trapped in a system of underground caves that are flooding.

🎥 And now for the heartbreaker show. Have you seen I Killed My Dad on Netflix yet? I just don’t know how to even describe this story, but it’s a must-see. I would love to hear how you feel about it.

🎥 I waited long enough and when Top Gun – Maverick started streaming on Amazon Prime, I grabbed my popcorn curled up on the couch, and absolutely loved it. I have to admit, I haven’t seen too many good 2nd part movies or remakes. But Tom Cruise seems to know how to do that. The 1953 movie called War of the Worlds was a hit movie which, IMO, was way before its time for that era. Then TC did the remake in 2005 and I loved how it didn’t take away from the original story but just updated it. There is a really interesting true story of where the 1954 movie came from. Well worth the read and a listen to the radio broadcast at the end of the article. It was definitely a part of pop culture history.

Bible study

I’ve always been a “book” style bible reader until a couple of months ago when I started using a digital version of the KJV Bible on my iPad. Mainly because I can blow up the font! Such a relief for those of us with aging eyes. I’m able to highlight, write notes, draw, etc., just as I did with a hard copy of the bible.

ZoellieStudio is where I got my digital bible and she has several to choose from. So, if you aren’t a KJV bible user, there are other versions to choose from.

I use the app Goodnotes to read the bible file from above and there is a free version for up to 3 books. BTW, if you haven’t tried Goodnotes, it’s a must-look-see. I use it to keep up with my meeting notes too. You can build your own notebooks and is great for students. Any of your work will be backed up in iCloud.

I also use a Paperfeel Screen Protector that helps with writing notes. It makes your iPad surface feel like paper and makes your Pencil work easier for you. It’s a game changer when it comes to taking notes on your iPad. I use Apple Pencil Tip Covers to keep from making that tap, tap noise when you are writing notes and trying not to disturb others. My stylus pencil is not from Apple but works just as well. My iPad is a 10.2″ renewed 8th generation version with a $10 cover. I basically only buy my electronics renewed from Amazon. Save money and good warranties.
