College dorm room essentials are a must for any student. Here are a few great ideas to choose from for your college-bound student.
Its been so many years since I went to college, but I remember having so much fun getting everything prepared for my dorm room. I was finally going to be on my own and be able to style my area in my own way.
I know one essential that I couldn’t live without was the Command Strips that had back then. There are so many more versions to choose from now. My son loved the velcro version to hang up items in his dorm. We also used poster putty for all our pictures and posters.
I didn’t have the items to choose from for my dorm room as today’s college student has but here are a few things I found that would make any dorm room theirs.

Other dorm essentials:
- A comfy mattress cover is a must to get the best night’s sleep you can during your college days.
- If you enjoy your sleep time in complete darkness, you may want to get Blackout curtains.
- Good sheets, pillows, and a nice blanket to wrap up in while you study, take a nap or watch tv.
- If your room is large enough, here is a really cute and cozy chair that will work almost anywhere.
- For safety purposes, a First Aid kit and pepper spray.
While looking for some dorm design ideas, I came upon a website called Dormify. What lovely ideas and items they have to choose from. So much inspiration and fun ideas.
A note to mom and dad. Be prepared. You will cry, miss your children terribly, you will worry about them and want to see or call them all the time. They are growing up, exploring their new world, and will enjoy their freedom. Even though you may not hear from them all the time, remember they do love you and will still need you no matter what.
It’s so hard to believe right before your eyes, your child is grown up! Every day with your child is a gift. Enjoy them while they are with you and when they are out on their own.
Dorm Design Ideas:
Girls just wanna have fun is what I see in this room.
I love the shelving above the beds with the fridge and mini microwave in the middle.
Just for the guys. They want a cool looking room too.
I love the use of a nice chair under the bed here.
A little farmhouse style going on here. Love the shutters behind the bed.
Great way to organize all the essentials for a dorm room.
My favorite of all is this design. Would remind the student of home.
