I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!
Welcome to My Life Abundant, a collection of ideas, tips, inspiration, and just thoughts. I love to share everything happening in my abundant life and the inspiration I have found from others around the World Wide Web.

It’s that time of the year when all the flowers are blooming, and time to refresh the pots. This year, I picked up a couple of Kalanchoe, which I have never grown before. I chose peach and red flowers. They are tropical succulent perennials and perfect for the hot weather we have here. Water only when the plant is completely dry and deadhead to keep it blooming all summer long. I can’t wait to see how these do on my porch that receives a lot of sun until about noon and then shade.
I also repotted several small houseplants that I have been putting off way too long. Do you do that? I had started 3 African Violet leaves, and they were way overdue to be transplanted into larger pots for AV’s. It’s been so long, I can’t remember what color the blooms will be. I need to learn to follow my own advice and label plants!
I just came back from visiting family and friends back home. A couple of weeks ago, my childhood friend passed away. When I got that phone call, I was just devastated. My heart was still grieving over losing Mr. G, and now my sweet, dear friend was gone. I needed to be around those whom I love for a while and grieve with them. We had a girls’ night out before I came home, and we celebrated our friend’s life together. Lots of laughs, sharing stories, and so much fun! It was good to see everyone.
Southern Ham Salad – Mix together 4 oz. room temperature cream cheese, 2 finely chopped green onions, 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, 1 tablespoon finely minced pimentos, 1 tablespoon sweet relish, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper in a medium bowl until well combined. Fold in 8 oz. finely chopped fully cooked ham (I use my food processor to chop it). Cover and chill for 1 hour before serving, allowing the flavors to meld. Serve with crackers or use as a sandwich spread.
☀️FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: What was Memorial Day once called? What flower is worn on Memorial Day to symbolize those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country? Memorial Day was once called Decoration Day. It was initially a day to decorate the graves of soldiers, both Union and Confederate, who had given their lives in the Civil War. A paper poppy is worn on Memorial Day. It became the symbol of the fallen after the poem Flanders’ Field was published.
