Just Some Ramblings & More!

I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!

This time of the year, I start to get the garden itch. I’ve been a gardener for so many years. A craft I treasure that I learned from my dad and his mother. When I was a little girl, I was amazed at all the plants my grandmother had by a window in her home and how she could grow a plant from a sweet potato!!

Something I always wanted to have was a greenhouse. The example above is so beautiful. Small garden, fenced-in to keep the critters away, and a beautiful small greenhouse. Just lovely. Maybe in the future, I hope to have a small glass terrarium with plants. Remember. A greenhouse can be any size.

I’ve checked out my garden supplies to see if anything needs to be thrown away and replaced. I love this Harvest Basket that could be used for basically anything outdoors. Flowers, veggies, fruits, and eggs! I talk about preparing for the gardening season in a blog post and what tools I use regularly.

And then my heart broke! My dad gave me a pair of hand pruners before he passed because he knew I loved gardening. I kept them by the door to go out when I would go prune a little on the patio. I picked them up the other day and they literally fell apart in my hands. They were so old. I’m going to have Mr. G glue them back together and just lay them out to remind me where my gardening inspiration came from. I replaced them with a ratchet pair of hand pruners. If you are looking for good hand pruners, get a ratchet version. So much easier on the hands.

something to chew on today

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness–just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.” — Laura Ingalls Wilder

what I’m watching & listening to

🎥 Did anyone watch the Murdaugh trial from beginning to end? The only thing I can say is just WOW! I thought the OJ and Casey Anthony trials were intense, but there are no words to explain what I witnessed while watching everything unfold. Of course, I’m still finding out more and more about this family and how corrupt they are, all the way back 3 generations.

🎥 I’m a sucker for Hallmark movies and series and I binged watched The Way Home. I’ve always loved Andie MacDowell as an actress. She also played in Cedar Cove which was a great series on Hallmark too.

🎥 I’m wanting to watch “Only Murders In The Building” next. Has anyone watched this? I hear it’s a cute show.

🎧 I haven’t listened to any new podcasts due to the Murdaugh trial. I’m hoping to find something new to listen to soon.

🎶 If you love the 70s and 80s playlist, check out Spotify. I’ve listened to channels from Pandora, Amazon, and Sirius. But, Spotify seems to have the best selection.

I would love to hear your suggestions for crime podcasts to add to my list.

  1. I will keep your ratchet pruner tip in mind. I don’t garden much but we do have some plants in the yard that need tending to once in a while.

  2. I’ve always wanted to garden but I’m not skilled at it and intimidated to learn. So sorry to hear about the pruners your dad gave you! That made me sad to read.

    1. Thank you. My dad gave me several things before he passed and those pruners were special to me. Now they are retired to view instead of use.

  3. I absolutely love gardening and working in my yard. It is my pride and joy and I planted lots of daffodil bulbs last fall and they are starting to pop! So excited but gonna do more… they are the one thing the deer don’t eat! Also… LOVE the greenhouse and I want one like above myself one day 😉 Love stopping by and so love the post!

  4. I love Only Murders in the Building. It is probably one of my favorite shows. I love all the actors and actresses.

  5. I’ve watched Only Murders in the Building, and I really enjoyed it! Hope you do, too!
    Looking forward to spring myself!

  6. I’m sorry your pruning sheets fell apart. But I hope the glue helps so you can keep them as a wonderful keepsake. My grandparents used to garden and I would if I could.

  7. 🙂Reading your reflections about gardening and your memories of your dad and grandmother brought a smile to my face and reminded me of the simple pleasures in life. Your love for gardening and your passion for it is truly inspiring. I appreciate the practical tips and recommendations you shared, such as the ratchet hand pruners and the Harvest Basket.

  8. I hope your pruners get fixed! What a thoughtful memento from your dad. Also, I started watching Only Murders in the Building but couldn’t get into it. I know several people that love it though!
