I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!
Welcome to My Life Abundant, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. I love to share everything happening in my abundant life and the inspiration I have found from others around the World Wide Web.
Last month I talked about giving compliments, which is one side of the equation. Equally important is the graceful art of accepting compliments. Accepting compliments with grace and sincerity is a powerful act of self-love, respect, and a gift to the giver.
However, for many of us with me included, accepting compliments can be surprisingly challenging. I don’t know why I just can’t say “Thank You” when someone compliments me on something. Why is that so hard for me? Being raised in the South, manners are very important, and giving compliments and accepting them are taught to the nth degree from birth.
So, I thought I would talk just a bit about accepting compliments.
The Mystery of Compliments
Compliments, though intended as gestures of admiration and appreciation, can trigger many complex emotions within us. From feelings of unworthiness and self-doubt to discomfort and embarrassment, our response to compliments often reveals deeper insecurities and beliefs about ourselves.
The Importance of Accepting Compliments
Learning to accept compliments graciously isn’t just about being polite. It’s an essential aspect of self-confidence and self-worth. By embracing compliments with humility and gratitude, we honor ourselves and also the person offering praise, while at the same time, encouraging a sense of connection and mutual respect.
Overcoming the Discomfort
Instead of dismissing compliments, pause and reflect on the validity of the praise being offered. Allow yourself to soak in the positive feedback and acknowledge your worthiness of recognition. Compliments would embarrass me for some reason growing up. Even though it’s a good thing!
The Art of Gracious Acceptance
Accepting compliments gracefully involves more than just saying “thank you.” It’s about receiving praise with an open heart and mind, without diminishing its significance or deflecting attention away from yourself. Allow yourself to enjoy the compliment and genuinely appreciate the sentiment behind it.
Celebrating the Beauty of a Compliment
In a world that often fixates on flaws and shortcomings, accepting compliments is an act of self-love and affirmation. So, the next time you find yourself on the receiving end of a compliment, remember to pause, breathe, and accept it with an open heart. After all, embracing the beauty of acknowledgment is not only a gift to yourself but also a testament to the connection and understanding that can be forged through simple acts of kindness.
❤️ We can all enjoy a simple act of kindness in our lives. ❤️

What I’m watching & listening to
🎥 The Vow is one of those movies that you just wanna watch and enjoy. I have to admit that Channing Tatum is such eye candy in this movie. 😉
🎥 I saw the trailer for The Iron Claw which is out now to stream and I can’t wait to watch it. It’s about the real-life story of the Von Erich family and their struggles in life.
🎥 And I squealed a bit when I heard that Downton Abbey is making another season!! I can’t wait! Are you a DA fan too?
🎥 And for you sci-fi folks. I can’t wait to see the new Godzilla v Kong: The New Empire movie coming out on March 29th. I have been a Godzilla and Kong fan since I was a little girl when it all began in 1954 and so far, I always loved the dubbing of English over the Asian actor’s dialog and it never matched up. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is my fav.
🎥 If you love courtroom drama, watching old court cases is a must. I have the CourtTV app and there are so many to watch. I just finished the case Florida vs. Relick. It’s about a wife who stabbed her husband and is worth the watch.
Let me know your favorite show, music, or movie you have watched or listened to lately. I’m always looking for new viewing pleasures.
