Just Some Ramblings & More!

I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!

Welcome to My Life Abundant, a collection of ideas, tips, inspiration, and just thoughts. I love to share everything happening in my abundant life and the inspiration I have found from others around the World Wide Web.

Our Wedding

I never thought that I would be posting this anytime soon, but God had a different plan for Mr. G, myself, and our lives together.

Back in January, Mr. G had a nagging cough that just wouldn’t go away and decided to head to the doctor. The x-ray showed he had pneumonia. The steroids and antibiotics seemed to work but after a couple of weeks, I noticed he was really looking bad. Took his oxygen level and it was 89. Off to the local ER we went.

The doctor came in with news we did not expect after a CAT scan. Mr. Adams, you have liver and lung cancer and I am sending you to the hospital ASAP.

When he got the diagnosis and we saw how his liver was filled with lesions, we knew his time was close. He was at peace with it. I could see it in his eyes. All he wanted was to be pain-free and I made sure of that. I learned very quickly what it was like to be a 24-hour caregiver to a terminal patient.

Three weeks after his diagnosis, Mr. G passed away in our home as I held his hand. I told him how much I loved him and would miss him so much. He told me the same. Those three weeks have been the most precious in my lifetime. Mr. G and I became closer than ever with wonderful talks and just being close with each other.

My heart aches for him. The house is so quiet now. I miss his Southern gentleman’s accent and all his great advice. I miss all the laughs he gave me too. Football season will never be the same but I will think of him as the season goes by.

For 67 years I have lived with someone and being alone is new to me and a bit terrifying. Life will be different, but he will be part of it.

Mr. G was my best friend, my safe place, my forever. Now, you are my angel. Until we meet again… 🤍🕊️

HOMEMADE QUICK BISCUITS – Grate a stick of frozen butter on the largest holes of a box grater. Put the butter in a bowl with 2 1/2 cups of self-rising flour and toss to cover the butter. Put the butter/flour mixture in a zip-type bag and freeze until needed. To make the biscuits: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Put the butter/flour mixture in a large bowl, making a well in the middle of it. Pour 1 cup of buttermilk into the well and stir to mix. Do not overmix. Turn the flaky dough out on a floured work surface and roll it out to 3/4 inch thick. Fold it into thirds and reroll. Repeat the fold and reroll 1/2 inch thick. Using a 2 to 2 1/2 inch round cutter that has been dipped into flour, cut out biscuits. Reroll scraps and cut more biscuits. Place the biscuits very close together on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with buttermilk and sprinkle with flake salt. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.

😵‍💫FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: What do pansies (a favorite spring flower) symbolize? What is the scientific name for a daffodil? Pansies symbolize remembrance and love. Narcissus is the scientific name for a daffodil. Narcissus was a Greek god who fell in love with his reflection and, in death, was transformed into a daffodil.

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, “I will try again tomorrow.” ~Mary Anne Radmacher

  1. I am so very sorry for your loss, I lost my husband on the 2nd February this year. We had no idea he was ill, he had been fine that day and then I found him collapsed and despite all efforts he died there and then.

The lonlieness and aching that I will never see him again, hear his voice or his laughter. When you go home and go to tell them something. Even just making a cuppa.

I have found some lovely groups on Facebook that has been a lifesaver to me.
