Just Some Ramblings

I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month.

It’s approaching the end of summer, the days are getting longer and cooler and many kids are back in school. Going outside, sitting on the front porch at night, and listening to whatever nature has to offer makes me smile. This is a beautiful picture by @amyschulerphotography on Instagram. She really captured a summer’s night.

what I’m watching & Reading

🎥 Have you seen Jerry & Marge Go Large yet? Such a cute, make-you-laugh-out-loud movie! It’s based on a true story about the lottery. It’s a must-watch. Annette Bening is Marge and I love seeing aging actors on the big screen.

🎥 Love a good mystery documentary? You have got to watch Girl in the Picture on Netflix. It’s a very well-made 2-hour documentary that tells the story of Sharon, the girl in the picture. Lots of questions are still to be answered.

🎥 We are rewatching Secrets and Lies on Tubi. It’s been a while since we watched it but there are so many twists and turns to keep you on the edge. There are 2 seasons and both are wonderfully done.

📙 The 2 books I loved this summer were Where the Crawdads Sing (can’t wait to see the movie) and Bless Your Heart, Rae Sutton. Have you read either one of these?

Any great book suggestions?

Decor Inspiration

I’ve been thinking about fall decorating and I found this mercury acorn with candles. I’m a sucker for anything that looks like mercury glass and speaking of mercury glass. Check out this easy DIY on a Pottery Barn Mercury Glass Pumpkin Knock-Off. I also love faux pumpkins here in Florida. It’s so hot during fall that pumpkins would just melt on the front porch. I also think faux pumpkins save money in the long run. But, I do miss carving real pumpkins. My son really enjoyed doing that when he was younger. This knitted throw blanket looks so comfy for cool fall nights while enjoying a movie.

I’m looking for new bathroom lighting and I’m thinking about this triple sconce. Since I live in a home with all brass door knobs and hinges, I would love to figure out a way to get rid of that shiny out-of-date brass color. I did find a post on how to age brass. Has anyone done this process before?

  1. I do love a good documentary! I will have to watch that one on Netflix. It sounds like something I’d enjoy.

  2. I always love watching a documentary show. I’m surely going to add this on my list! Thanks for sharing this with us!

  3. My dog sleeps on the couch more than I use it. So if I put cute fall pillows up, she would believe they were for her enjoyment.

After a long summer of 100’s, I am loving the weather since we got a big rain. It’s been in the upper 90s and while it’s still hot, it’s not 104 or higher with the heat index.

  4. I love it when it’s time for the rambling posts. Jerry and Marge Go Large really was a cute movie, and you must definitely go see Where the Crawdads Sing! I’m not sure how much like the book it is but I do know I really enjoyed it when I went to go see it with the girls!

  5. I have also read Where the Crawdads Sing, and it will be interesting to see what the movie is like. It sounds like you are enjoying the end of your summer.

  6. Wow! These are great stuff you’ve done so far, loved to see that Netflix show too! Looks interesting and it’s a true story!

  7. Fall is coming. I don’t want to give up to the summer season! I love the warm season so much!

  8. I haven’t read the books, but my grandma used to say, ‘bless your heart.’ That reminded me of her (which is always a good thing). 🙂 Now I am going to click on that salad link!
