A list of some of the best essentials to set up your guest bedroom like a hotel suite to help guests feel pampered and relaxed.
The holidays are in full swing and one of the last things we forget to prepare for is the guest room. When guests come over, I love having a few special things for them to enjoy while they are here. Just a few small details will make your guests feel right at home or in a luxury hotel. Here are a few guest room ideas to try in your home.
What essentials should you have ready?
One of the first things to have in a guestroom is a place to store the essentials your guests would use every day. Whether it’s a piece of furniture as pictured above or shelves in the closet, your guests will love to have it all in one place.
I know when I have traveled I have forgotten items I use all the time or run out. Having those items in your guestroom just lets them know you really care about their stay. Sample sizes are perfect for this situation too.
- Extra blankets
- Towels & washcloths
- Shampoo & Conditioner
- Lotion
- Jars full of healthy snacks
- Hair dryer
- Basket of Kleenex, extra toilet paper, toothpaste, bottled water, makeup wipes, Tylenol, etc.
Extra furniture
Besides the bed, having an extra comfy chair with a floor lamp close by is the perfect area for your guests to sit and read or relax in their room.
A luggage rack or two is perfect to sit at the end of the bed so luggage is easy to access.
Depending on where you live, a good ceiling fan is essential. Every room here in Florida will have a ceiling fan to keep it cooler.
Looking for extra sleeping ideas? The Sofa Chair bed is all the rage now and easy to store back as a chair or ottoman.
The Bed
The bed is the most important item in the room and the size depends on the room. Queen or full seems to be the size used by most.
When it comes to sheets, I know I enjoy high-count sheets and I am assuming your guests would too. It’s a higher-cost choice but will last a long time since they aren’t used that much.
Adding a mattress topper will not only help with comfort, it will also protect the investment of your nice mattress. I added a topper a couple of years ago and wondered why I waited so long to add one. It’s just so comfy now. A comfy duvet is essential and when you decide to redecorate, you just buy a new duvet cover.
These cooling pillows are a staple in my home. They stay fluffy and don’t flatten out. And adding a cozy throw over the end of the bed adds that special touch.
a few extras
Now comes the fun stuff to pull the room all together. Of course, this list could be as long or as short as your guest room needs. But, it’s fun to see what’s out there to make your guests comfy.
- Table Clock which also charges your phone
- Framed Wi-Fi login information (Printables can be found on Pinterest)
- Small night light for the bathroom or bedroom
- End tables with open shelves or empty drawers
- Layout extra books and magazines
- Hang an extra robe in the bathroom
- End table lamps
