I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!
I made a big decision this year and decided I just can’t do a large tree anymore. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE how beautiful it is every year with all the ornaments I’ve gathered for over 40 years. But, I’m ready for a change and that change is a smaller tree and less decor.
I picked up this really cute smaller 36″ tree and it’s perfect. I adorned it with fairy lights (I prefer the warm white color) and all my vintage balls from my grandmother, my mom, and a few that I’ve collected over the years. The second tree is a smaller version of the first tree and the third tree I already had. The decor is just for Mr. G and I anyway and we both agreed, that a little bit goes a long way. And we like the idea of less to store in the garage. Secretly, I know Mr. G is happy that I’m not standing on a ladder to hang lights and ornaments on a 9′ tree.
I plan on storing all my ornaments in nicer plastic boxes and putting them in the attic. I will let my son decide what he wants to do with them in the future. I sold my tree on FB market place and now another family can enjoy it for years to come.
In other news, it’s our yearly checkups this time of the year. We both have bloodwork and physicals and we also see our dermatologist. I also have my yearly mammogram done too. Ladies, it’s so important to have the girls checked out every year. I found these cute stickers for my planner to help remind me.
something to chew on
“If it’s meant to be, it will be. You won’t have to force, convince, or worry over it. Let it flow, let it be, and let it come to you. You’re attracting everything you need. Trust the timing of your life.” Unknown
What I’m watching & listening to
🎥 It’s that time of year and I am watching all my favorite Christmas movies. It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf (the funniest movie EVER), Home Alone, The Holiday (love romance this time of the year), Christmas with the Kranks, Love Actually (finally watched it), and finally, Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Candy and Martin have some of the best quotes. Priceless)
🎥 If you loved Knots Landing, Friends, Dallas, Desperate Housewives, and WKRP, then you won’t want to miss this movie! Lifetime’s Ladies of the ’80s A Divas Christmas will be out on December 2nd. I already have this scheduled to watch this weekend.
🎥 Virgin River Christmas special came out today! I can’t wait to watch it.
🎥 I’m also loving the Hallmark Christmas movies! Fa la la la laaaaaaaaaa I’m a sucka for Hallmark Christmas movies.
🎥 What did you think of part 1 of the 6th and final season of The Crown. I just don’t know how I feel about the royals. They are a very interesting group. I will miss this series a lot!!
🎥 And for the pièce de résistance, Bridgerton Season 3 is scheduled for release in early 2024.
🎥 If you love true documentaries, check out Buried: The 1982 Alpine Meadows Avalanche on Netflix.
🎥 I watched the Sylvester Stallone documentary on Netflix. I’m a huge fan of his movies and just him. It’s a good life story about him and a little heartbreaking at the same time. What he achieved just to get Rocky done is a miracle in itself. Really worth the watch.
🎵I’m listening to Sirius Radio channel Holiday Traditions and if you love old Christmas music, go to YouTube and search for vintage Christmas music. Some good stuff out there.
Let me know your favorite show or movie you have watched lately.

Please don’t ever stop ‘rambling’ as I enjoy reading your thoughts! We’ve had a small Christmas tree for some years now. I find it easy to create a new look every year with it.
I started the first episode of the new season of Crown and I got to the point where it was the crash in the tunnel. I stopped at that point though because I’m actually already in the middle of a bunch of shows like seasons wise so I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy for the first time but whenever I’m eating I’ve been watching the Witcher season three so that the blood and stuff doesn’t bother me and then as soon as I’m done eating and go back to Greys I’ve just been binging it. But I am really curious to see what they do this season in the crown. I’ve been bad this year not really watching seasonal movies appropriately. There are some that I wanted to check out that I saw available on Paramount+ but I just haven’t had time so maybe during the weekend I’m working a lot overtime right now.
I cannot wait to start watching Christmas movies with my kids. We love so many of them.
Your tree is so pretty!
I have had a smaller tree for a few years now & I find it much less work.
Such a pretty tree. I have a small tree as space is limited in my home.
So cute and I picked up a smaller tree too from TJ Max that I am loving. I want to find a few more felt ornaments to complete it. Love your trees! So pretty!
I really loved your quote in “Something to chew on”, I feel like it was something I needed to read before realizing I needed it.
Your decision to downsize your holiday decor sounds like a meaningful change! The warmth of fairy lights on your smaller tree paired with vintage ornaments must create a charming holiday atmosphere!
I totally understand about the big tree. It can be a burden, so a smaller one is perfect!
OMG, I’m so glad I saw this. I didn’t know the Virgin River Christmas special had come out yet. I really want to see that. I’ll watch it when I decorate my Christmas tree that would be great. Loving those tress!!!!
Your decision to go for a smaller Christmas tree with vintage ornaments is such a charming idea.
Definitely one of the cutest and prettiest Christmas trees I have ever seen
You’ve been really busy! 🙂 And that’s good. I just rewatched some of my kids’ favorite movies and picked up some lines that seem to mean a lot nowadays (which I forgot already) 😀
we are getting started on the christmas movies watching part at home. And i do want to watch some of those hallmark movies this time around
