I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month to all of you!
Welcome to My Life Abundant, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. I love to share everything happening in my abundant life and the inspiration I have found from others around the World Wide Web.
Happy Thanksgiving next week!!
I hope everyone is ready for the holidays! Have you started shopping yet or are you already done? When do you start decorating for the holidays?
I wait until the day after Thanksgiving which has been a tradition passed down to me from previous generations. I like to decorate while listening/watching the Georgia and Georgia Tech football game Mr. G is watching. We started this tradition when we got married many moons ago. 🎄❤️
Last year I made some big changes in my Christmas decor and if you missed the post, check it out HERE.
Oh my, the past 30 days have been something else. Mr. G and I went on a short vacation at the end of October to Destin and had the best time. So relaxing, the weather was perfect and we did a lot of thrifting.
When we came home, the next day we had a pretty good leak in the master bathroom. The plumbing is in the attic of this house. The wall peeled and part of the ceiling came down. Mr. G was able to fix the plumbing issue and we will eventually have to have all new plumbing in the attic. Thats a whole other story!!
It took a couple of weeks to get that job fixed since we had to wait until everything dried out, etc.
During that two-week period, we noticed water on the floor next to the cabinet where the sink is. There was another leak! This one had been going on for some time. Probably for months with the damage to the cabinets and wall area. We found the leak behind the dishwasher and again, Mr. G fixed that. But there was mold, not much but we had to pull out the sheetrock that went around the cabinets where the sink and dishwasher are. Mr. G is working on that and we are in the home stretch on finishing that job.
As I sit back and reflect on all that has happened in the past 30 days, I’m thankful. I’m thankful for having a husband who knows how to fix things and who has taught me a lot to know what to do in the future. I’m thankful we live in a beautiful home, even though it is aging and has its issues. We are aging and we have our issues, too!
Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined. You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me. You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions. AMEN!
If you need a planner to get organized for 2025, you can grab my free planner from my post last week.
In other news, our yearly checkups are at this time of the year. We both have bloodwork and physicals and we also see our dermatologist. I also have my yearly mammogram done too. Ladies, it’s so important to have the girls checked out every year. I found these cute stickers for my planner to help remind me.
🎄FUN AND INTERESTING CHRISTMAS FACTS: The song Jingle Bells was written in 1857 for Thanksgiving, but became a Christmas song in the 1870s. Prince Albert introduced the German custom of decorating Christmas trees to his wife, Queen Victoria of Britain. Since 1978, there have been over 733 different versions of “Silent Night” copyrighted. 3 billion Christmas cards are sent in the U.S. each year. Alabama was the first state to officially recognize Christmas in 1836. Oklahoma was the last, in 1907.🎄

What I’m watching, reading & listening to
🎥 It’s that time of year and I am watching all my favorite Christmas movies. It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf (the funniest movie EVER), Home Alone, The Holiday (love romance this time of the year), Christmas with the Kranks, Love Actually (finally watched it), and finally, Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Candy and Martin have some of the best quotes. Priceless). And let’s not forget all the Hallmark movies. My fav is Christmas at Graceland since I’m a huge Elvis fan.
🎥 I finally watched the Twisters movie on Prime because they sent me a $3.00 off coupon. I have to admit, I liked the first one better. But the effects on the Twisters movie were out of this world and yes, Glen Powell is rather nice to look at. 😉
🎥 So, has anyone watched the Woman of the Hour yet?
🎵I’m listening to Sirius Radio channel Holiday Traditions and if you love old Christmas music, go to YouTube and search for vintage Christmas music. I also love all the screensavers with Christmas music to go with it. Some good stuff out there.
Let me know your favorite show, music, or movie you have watched or listened to lately. I’m always looking for new viewing pleasures.

I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!

I’m mainlining Hallmark Channel right now! LOL. I have it on all day long. I love all their movies. I also binge Christmas in July, too.
You have had an eventful couple of months or so. I agree that if you are able to fix things at home yourself, it helps to avert major repairs otherwise. All the best for your Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. Have a great time.
definitely sounds like a busy time ahead for you.
We have started some of our decorating but are really behind on shopping! I am just not a big shopper myself.
I like to decorate in early November because I love Christmas decorations. I have also been watching my favorite holiday movies and I have been loving it!
Your creativity really shines through in this post! I love how you share your thoughts so candidly.
I need to start my shopping, I am hoping to this weekend. We normally start decorating the first week of December although my neighbour put hers up after Halloween.
Happy Thanksgiving!
What a lovely tradition of putting up your Christmas decorations. The family tradition is 12 days before Christmas, but we’ve been putting ours up earlier and earlier as the years go on! I can’t wait. Sorry to see that you came back from your holiday with a leak. Ekk! Not what you would hope for, but so glad all is in hand for you with getting it fixed. Lovely to catch up! I feel like I’ve been away for so long.
What a lovely tradition to have with your family.
