Just Some Ramblings

I’ve been told I love to ramble on, so why not pass along some of my ramblings from this past month.

Summer always reminds me of farming back home in southeastern Missouri. It was hot, it was muggy and life was slow. Usually this time of the year, the crops were in the ground and growing strong. The picture above by midcounty_journal reminds me so much of the back porch at the farmhouse. It wasn’t “magazine” pretty, but it was nice to sit on and watch the goings-on at the farm. Listening to the chicken’s cluck, the smell of honeysuckle growing on the fence, a tractor plowing in the distance, and the smell of an upcoming storm while enjoying a cup of joe. The only thing missing in this picture is a pair of muddy, dirty working boots.

happy anniversary to us
Our Wedding

Mr. G and I are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary today. Our actual wedding day is May 29th, but that’s during Memorial Weekend and Florida is packed with people coming down for their summer vacation. So we decided to celebrate a bit earlier and drive to Deland to go to an antique store and have a nice dinner.

We met online when it wasn’t cool to do that and way before all the dating sites were around. I use to monitor chatrooms, and well, he flirted a bit, I flirted a bit and 6 months later, we met for the first time. It was a long-distance romance for over 2 years between Missouri and Georgia before we ran off to Charleston, SC, to get hitched.

Here it is 20 years later. The time has truly flown by. But as they say, when you are having fun, time flies by. We are truly blessed to have found each other.

Stranger Things Season 4
blank

I can’t wait until Friday! Season 4 of Stranger Things starts and what makes it even better is that they are using Journey’s song “Separate Ways” as part of the trailer with Steve Perry’s help. My favorite singer and favorite show working together.❤️ I heard on the radio that each episode cost $30 million dollars to make!

The picture above is where many school scenes were filmed for the series in Stockbridge, GA, and it’s also the area where Mr. G was born and raised. This school is also where Mr. G used to play baseball when he was in high school. So, on our recent trip to Georgia, I had to stop by and take a picture of it. Stockbridge High School was moved to a new school building in the area, so a production company bought the old buildings for filming.

Are you planning to watch season 4?

this is us

Let’s talk a bit about this wonderful tv series. I don’t know about you, but this show has touched me in so many ways. But especially toward the end and how they handled the subject of Alzheimer’s. If you know anyone with this terrible disease, you know what I mean. I’ve watched 3 members of my aging family pass away from this horrible, horrible disease.

But when Randall’s father, William, said this on last week’s show:

“When something makes you sad when it ends, it must have been pretty wonderful when it was happening.”

Let’s just say, I completely lost it. Really lost it. When you get older and watch your life seem to go by faster than ever, you remember more and more all the wonderful things that happened in your life up till now. You can love someone all your life, but when they die, your heart is broken.

Everything comes to an end and everything dies. Enjoy your life, your loved ones, and all those precious times.

what else I’m watching

🎥 Did you watch Pieces of Her on Netflix? It was a good thriller series to watch. Don’t know if another season will happen or not.

🎥 Are you watching the second season of Bridgerton? I LOVE the costumes and the Queen’s hair did not disappoint this season. And of course. “Those” scenes. If you know what I mean. 😊

🎥 Do you have a favorite movie to watch over and over? I guess mine would be Steel Magnolias. It so reminds me of the way I grew up in the south with all those great sayings, front porches, the big hair, and best of all was the love these women had for each other. Their friendship is strong and special. The story between M’lynn and Shelby is a lot like how it was between my mom and me. But, I consider myself an Ouiser, the older I have gotten. 😉

🎥 Did anyone go see Top Gun: Maverick or Downton Abbey: A New Era yet? Would love to hear how you liked them?

shoes anyone?

I’m always shoe shopping but in reality, because I’m almost 65 years old, I need very comfy shoes.

My favorite pair of shoes right now are the Pillow Slippers. I know you have seen them everywhere on social media. I tried 3 different pairs and finally ended up with these. Since the sizing is usually 2 sizes on one pair, it was hard for me to find one that fit my small foot. I normally wear a size 7 but the 6-7 size was really large until I found the Joomra version. They come in so many colors too.

But, I also have noticed that clogs may be making a comeback. Do I hear 70s music in the background? I had a couple of them back in high school. I love slip-on any kind of shoes and clogs are right up my alley. I know many nurses wear them. Here is a list of the most comfortable clogs.

Another brand of shoes I’m checking out for comfort is made by Reef. Lots of arch support is right up my alley. I especially like Court Sandal. Any reviews on Reef sandals?
