While living in Georgia we would have the daily sitings of deer, which can just eat up a lot of your garden and landscaping. But, for some reason, they stayed away from the house and we enjoyed them while drinking our morning coffee on the deck.
But, the armadillos didn’t care what they did to our yard. They dug holes like dogs looking for their favorite little food of grubs. We could keep the grubs out of the ground, but they really seemed to love my flower beds. So, I found that coyote urine worked the best. This comes in a powder form and you just sprinkle in the area of your flowers and no more armadillos.
The pest that really gave us the most headaches was those little squirrels. They were every where where we lived. We lived in an open area, but surrounded by Georgia forest with tons of trees. We tried every thing for critter control and found Havahart’s Critter Control library worked great for helping us decide what to do for our critters. We would make sure that all the vents in the attic were closed and we also used Critter Ridder close to the house to keep them in their trees. Just spray the Critter Ridder around the house, on plants you didn’t want them to nibble on and we were set. We noticed they stayed in the trees or out in the yard.Â
The other method we used was the squirrel cages which worked well. Catch the squirrel, take them some where else, let them go. Happy squirrels!
I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!
