I love enjoying the summer and all the fun you can have around the pool, taking trips and having parties.
Last year I had a pool party and what a success it was. Since my husband and I are southerners, we wanted to celebrate July 4th with friends and have a great BBQ.
We had BBQ sandwiches, Brunswick stew, baked beans, pasta salad and some great desserts. We also had a really good Redneck Southern Punch that was a hit with everyone.
We strung red, white and blue lights around the bird cage over the pool and had buckets of ice with beer in them. That’s what I love about a BBQ. You can set all the great food on a table, under the porch and enjoy. The tables were covered in red and white check for that picnic feel.
Keeping with the redneck theme of the party, we also used our ironing board to layout out chips and dips on. Our invitations were printed out on paper and then we rolled them up in the tubes that are left over from toilet paper. We have little slots under our mail boxes where you can put things like this at everyone’s homes.
The party was a great success, but oh my goodness, all the leg work I had to do and the headaches from all the decisions that needed to be made.
After that party, I stumbled upon www.celebrations.com for great party themes and realized what an easier job it would’ve been if I had found them first. They have great ideas for all kinds of parties. The holidays, birthdays, bridal showers, picnics, etc. This website rocks with all the information you need for recipes, drinks, decorations, party favors and invitations. And all you moms out there. All the birthday party themes they have for children are just too cute!
I know for my next party, I will be sure to visit their website to help me make the decisions I need to do.
I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!
