Blog Prompt: Let’s take some time today and remember those who were lost. Do you remember where you were and what you were doing? How did you react/feel?
What a tragic day for American all those years ago. One minute you are driving to work, having breakfast and you hear our country has been attacked.
I was on the phone with my boyfriend and we both were watching TV. I was off that day from work and getting ready to go to St. Louis with friends. We were both in so much pain for those people and then the 2nd plane hit.
Not much was said during that phone call and then I realized my boyfriend was crying. I asked him what was wrong and he told me all those firemen are going to die. You see, he was a fireman at that time.
I didn’t even think about our first responders in that situation. All they think about is going into burning buildings and saving lives. Thats exactly what all those firemen did that day. Never thinking about themselves first.
It was such a hard day for him. We stayed in touch that day on the phone and when I got back that afternoon from my day in St. Louis, I asked him if he would’ve have gone in those buildings when the call came out.
And without skipping a beat he said, “Of Course. No question. You do your job and save lives.”
I knew at that very moment I was going to marry the most courageous person I have ever known. My hero. My fireman.
God Bless all our first responders out there doing their job to save lives!
My favorite picture of my husband and his best friends for years in the fire department.
Take care all,

I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!

I am thankful for the firemen who have been there for so many people and willing to sacrifice their lives for complete strangers. I try to bake our firemen banana bread at least twice a year as a small token of gratitude but there is no way that I could ever thank them enough for all that they do. Please give your hubby an extra hug from me!
