As many of you know, I have a rescued boxer named Ernest. I couldn’t have asked for a more loving dog. He has truly been a joy to have in our family for the past 5 years and my next dog will certainly be a rescued one.
I support so many organizations who rescue animals and get them adopted out to loving homes. I recently was reading about Orange Dog Inc. and here is a little from their website:
Orange Dog Inc. is an organization aimed at rescuing helpless small breed dogs from overcrowded shelters in North America where rates of euthanasia are extremely high. We do this by providing transportation to areas where they will find loving new homes. Orange Dog Inc. Freedom Flight Program gives these dogs a second chance at life by working closely with well established and reputable shelters and humane societies in the region of origin, as well as the new region. The Orange Dog Inc. funds the Freedom Flight Program through the sale of quality, sustainably made dog products and accessories.
One of the main problems with organizations, such as these, is the need for money. So, they have started their own web store where all profits go to help out.
There are some wonderful items in their store and one, which I think is really important if you walk your dog at night, is dog vests. The one in the picture above is a reflective vest.
They also have wonderful dog gifts any dog owner would appreciate.
If you are planning on getting a new dog, please consider adopting from your area. There are so many dogs out there that need a good and loving home.
I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!
