Blog Prompt – Should schools and businesses enforce a dress code? Why?
I love the idea of a dress code in schools. Even in public school systems. The clothes some of these kids are wearing in public just blows my mind. The pants hanging way down and the young girls are just showing way too much skin. If everyone is wearing the same type of clothing, then maybe they will keep their minds on their school work and not so much the idea these young folk are sending out in their clothing.
I’ve heard some parents say it costs too much for their uniforms. Well, the prices they are paying for name brand clothing, will never be as high as uniforms. And I know of a couple of public school systems that have places where you can buy good used uniforms and people pass them on too. The area school here has them wear different colored polo shirts and khaki pants, skirts or shorts. Very simple and not that costly.
I just honestly think its better for the school system and the children if there is one less thing they have to worry about every day when they need to go to school.
I have worked in many different places and they all had some form of dress code. When I taught school, we dressed casual. The bank, we dressed a little more nicely and when I worked at my last job and was the only employee, I dresses very casual, but no shorts. I think this should really be up to what kind of job you have to do.
Everyone have a great day and dress appropriately,
