Blog prompt: Today is the Boston Marathon. Tell about a competition that you participated in and how it turned out for you.
The only real competitions I have ever competed in were bowling tournaments. I always went to the State Tournament held in Missouri. I also competed in one National Tournament in St. Louis and won $4.00. That was my payoff out of the thousands of women who participated.
For 24 years I went to a tournament in Evansville, Indiana and came home with money a few of those years. One your our team missed 1st place by 7 pins. First prize was $5000 and we were so close that year, but our 4th place prize was good enough for us.
We also had a yearly Association Tournament at the house that I bowled at in Missouri. I have to say, our team and my doubles partner usually won something every year. I always enjoyed that tournament. Especially if everyone participated.
The picture is of when we won first place for the whole season and we were at our yearly banquet held at the end of the year.
Its sad to look at that picture because the girl sitting to the left of me passed away about a year ago. I will always miss Peggy. She was a great team mate.
My last night bowling with my friends and all the friends I had made over the 27 years, was hard. We had a little party to say good bye and my friends gave me a autographed bowling pin with all the people I bowled with and a nice plaque.  The picture to the left shows my locker that I used for many, many years.
The last picture is of my dearest friend and my bowling partner always. This was the last time we bowled in Evansville together and I wish we had kept notes of all those fun years at that tournament. So many laughs and so many goofy experiences.  Wonderful memories forever.
I’m just a country girl loving my geeky life with my wonderful husband, always taking pictures, getting my hands dirty in the garden, being crafty, exploring with travels and enjoying all this on a budget. But above all, living my faith as a child of God!
